Chandigarh has revised minimum wage rates effective 01.04.2026 to 30.09.2026, driven by a rise in the Cost of Living Index (CPI) for industrial workers.

|---|---|
| Un-skilled | Manual work involving lifting, pushing, cleaning, guarding, packing, or similar physical tasks requiring no special training (e.g. watchman, mazdoor, helper). |
| Semi-Skilled-II | Has not passed intermediate exam; has learned by experience to operate a machine or work a technical/professional trade without formal institutional training (e.g. tailor, barber, plumber, mixerman). |
| Semi-Skilled-I | Has passed intermediate exam and learned to operate a machine by experience, OR has 5+ years in a Semi-Skilled-II role, OR drives a medium/heavy vehicle (e.g. cook, computer operator, driver). |
| Skilled-II | Holds a certificate from a recognised technical/professional institution and works in that trade (e.g. electrician, welder, computer mechanic, software developer). |
| Skilled-I | Holds a diploma or is a graduate, doing skilled-II-category work or higher (e.g. medical representative, technical supervisor, chef). |
| Highly Skilled | Engineering graduate or holder of a special professional qualification, or employed as foreman/manager/executive/officer with no managerial power (e.g. supervisory technical roles). |
| Class III (Staff) | Passed matriculation; clerical/office roles (e.g. clerk, typist, receptionist, cashier, store assistant). |
| Class II (Staff) | Graduate (non-technical); does Class III-type work under a senior designation, or roles like accountant, stenographer, office supervisor. |
| Class I (Staff) | Employed as assistant manager, engineer, officer, doctor, or similar, with no managerial authority — work may overlap Class II/III duties. |
