This is an Extraordinary Haryana Government Gazette notification dated March 30, 2026, issued by the Haryana Labour Department under Section 28 of the Haryana Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958.

Key Purpose

The notification grants an exemption to shops and commercial establishments in Haryana from the mandatory provisions of Section 9 (Opening & Closing Hours) and Section 10 (Close Day) of the Act — provided the establishment is registered online via self-certification on the Labour Department’s portal. This supersedes an older notification from November 5, 2009.

Conditions of Exemption

  • Night shift for women (8:00 PM – 6:00 AM): Establishments must separately apply for exemption under Section 28 via auto mode/self-certification, as per a prior October 13, 2025 notification

  • Working hours: Maximum 48 hours/week and 10 hours/day per employee

  • Total daily hours (including rest breaks): Must not exceed 12 hours

  • Overtime pay: Must be at twice the normal wage rate

  • Mandatory rest break: No employee can work more than 6 consecutive hours without a minimum 30-minute rest interval

  • All other applicable Labour Legislations must still be complied with, and this exemption does not override any orders from other government departments or police

  • copy of this notification must be displayed prominently at the employee entrance/exit of the establishment
