The Ministry of Labour & Employment, via S.O. 454(E) dated 30 January 2026, has notified that the wage ceiling for a person employed in a supervisory capacity under section 2(z)(d) of the Code on Wages, 2019 is eighteen thousand rupees per month.
It further states that any person employed in a supervisory capacity and drawing wages exceeding ₹18,000 per month shall be excluded from the definition of “worker” under that clause.
The Code on Wages, 2019 defines “worker” to include persons employed to do manual, unskilled, skilled, technical, operational, clerical or supervisory work, but allows the Central Government to prescribe a wage ceiling for those in supervisory roles beyond which they are excluded from this definition.
