The EPFO have announced the new withdrawal rules.

Purpose Withdrawal limit & eligibility Frequency

Category I — Essential Social Security Needs   

(In lieu of paras 68J, 68K)

Illness  — for self and family Up to 100% of the Eligible Member Balance, after 12 months’ total service Max 3 × / financial year
Education  — for self and family Up to 100% of the Eligible Member Balance, after 12 months’ total service Max 10 × / membership
Marriage  — for self and family Up to 100% of the Eligible Member Balance, after 12 months’ total service Max 5 × / membership

Category II — Housing-related Need   

(In lieu of paras 68B(1)(a), 68B(1)(b), 68B(1)(bb), 68B(1)(c), 68B(7), 68BB, 68BC, 68BD)

Purchase of a flat / house / site & construction

Repayment of a housing loan

Additions, alterations, renovations or improvements

Up to 100% of the Eligible Member Balance, after 12 months’ total service Max 5 × / membership

(counted afresh)

Category III — Special Circumstances   

(In lieu of paras 68H, 68HH, 68L, 68M, 68N, 68NN, 68NNN)

Special circumstances  — without assigning any reasons Up to 100% of the Eligible Member Balance, after 12 months’ total service Max 2 × / financial
