Mandatory Allotment and Activation of PF UAN through UMANG App Now in Effect

• Exceptions: Employers can still generate UANs for International Workers and citizens of Nepal/Bhutan.

• Three Services on UMANG App:

  1. Direct UAN Allotment and Activation for users without a UAN

  2. UAN Activation for those who haven’t yet activated their UAN

  3. Face Authentication for updating records of already activated UANs

• Easy, Self-Service Process: Employees can generate or activate UAN using just their Aadhaar number, mobile number, and face scan—no employer involvement required.

• Instant Access: On completion, UAN and a temporary password are sent via SMS, giving members immediate access to EPFO services such as PF passbook, KYC updates, and online claims.

• PF UAN generation through employers is now restricted.
• This initiative ensures error-free and secure UAN generation.

How to Avail:
Download the UMANG and Aadhaar Face RD Apps from Playstore, follow in-app prompts, complete Aadhaar OTP and face authentication, and your UAN is ready.
