The Ministry of Labour & Employment has announced transformative reforms for the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to enhance service delivery, transparency, and member satisfaction.
Easy access to PF details with ‘Passbook Lite’ in member portal
The reforms focus on enabling all key EPFO services—including Provident Fund account details and passbook access—via a single unified login. The new “Passbook Lite” feature allows members to easily view their PF account summary directly within the member portal, streamlining access and reducing complexity.
Online access to Annexure K (Transfer Certificate)
A significant update is the introduction of direct online access to the Annexure K Transfer Certificate for PF account transfers between jobs. This reform allows EPFO members to download Annexure K themselves, ensuring full transparency, better tracking of PF transfers, and easier verification of service records and balance updates—all critical for correct pension calculations.
Reduction in number of approvals to fast-track settlements
EPFO has rationalized the approvals process for key functions like PF transfers, settlements, advances, and refunds. Powers for approving these requests have been delegated from senior officers to Assistant PF Commissioners and lower levels, reducing delays and speeding up claim settlements. These measures are expected to result in quicker, more transparent, and efficient service for employees and employers alike.
