The Haryana Government, vide\u00a0Gazette Notification No. 02\/26\/2026-2Lab dated May 4, 2026<\/strong>, issued by the Labour Department, has announced a significant relief for businesses operating in the state.<\/p>\n

Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under powers conferred by\u00a0Section 28<\/strong> of the Haryana Shop and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958 (Punjab Act 15 of 1958), the Governor of Haryana has\u00a0exempted establishments<\/strong>\u00a0from the registration or intimation of business commencement requirements under\u00a0Section 13 or Section 13A\u00a0of the said Act.<\/p>\n

Who Gets This Benefit?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This exemption applies to any establishment situated in Haryana that\u00a0gets itself registered under Section 3 of The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSH) Code, 2020 (Act 37 of 2020)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 but only after the finalization of the Haryana Rules under the OSH Code.<\/p>\n

Why Was This Done?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The key objective is to\u00a0avoid duplicity<\/strong> of registration and compliance processes. Earlier, establishments had to register separately under both the Shop & Establishment Act and the OSH Code \u2014 creating redundancy. This notification streamlines the process.<\/p>\n

Important Condition to Note<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exemption is\u00a0not a blanket relief\u00a0from the Haryana Shop & Establishments Act, 1958. Establishments must\u00a0continue to comply with all other provisions\u00a0of the Act, to the extent they are not inconsistent with the OSH Code, 2020.<\/p>\n
